The camera detection system is capable of monitoring multiple passengers moving through the airport. Signs make passengers aware of the technology, but there will be no other visible changes to the arrivals area. Meanwhile LHR is also studying the possibility of using UV sanitation for security trays and contact-free security screening equipment to reduce person-to-person contact.

Elsewhere in the world, the Russian minister of transportation Yevgeny Dietrich has inspected Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) to ensure it is ready to resume air operations.

COVID-19-combating measures at the airport include dedicating Terminal F for arrivals from high-risk countries, deploying medical personnel to the Terminal F baggage claim hall, and having two teams from the Territorial Centre for Emergency Medicine for Moscow Region on duty at all times. Moscow is also trialling thermal imaging cameras to identify potential travellers with coronavirus.
