Narita International Airport (NRT) in Japan is to install 72 self-service auto bag drop (ABD) units ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Designed and built by Australian firm, ICM Airport Technics, the Series 7 ABD units will be rolled out progressively across all four terminals at NRT. Multi-lingual and packed with user-friendly features, ICM’s ABD units will improve the efficiency of check-in and bag-drop times for passengers of multiple airlines. As Japan’s leading international airport, Narita is strategically placed as a key operational hub in the Asia-Pacific region for the three major airline alliances – SkyTeam, Star Alliance and One World. This is ICM’s first foray into the Japanese market, with further significant developments in Japan to be announced in the coming months.
